Kitchen Gadgets
Although not essential, there are some items we recommend for the kitchen that can really help you on your path to a Happy Gut!
1- Spirooli/noodle maker/inspiralizer
We highly recommend investing in one of those. It allows you to make ‘noodles’ with vegetables, which can add a lot of fun to your meals. There are many available on the market!
Once you have progressed to the Daredevil Diet, you could get inspiration from this website for recipe ideas. You will have to adapt them to your specific needs, depending on what you discover during the Adventurous Diet. They also sell the inspiralizer, which we do recommend as a very good option.
2- Slow cooker/Multi-cooker
Very handy, especially if you are time-poor. They allow you to quickly 'throw in' some meat and veggies in the slow cooker in the morning and come back home to a lovely meal. If you opt for a multi-cooker, then you can also make amazing stews with 'slow-cooking' cuts of meat in less than 1 hour with the pressure cooker!
Many of our clients told us that this simple piece of equipment has changed their life! If you get one, we recommend getting the biggest size, as you will want it big enough to cook your bone broth, and also make big batches of your favourite recipes.
We recommend the Instant Pot Duo Nova, as it's one of the only multi-cooker on the market that comes with a stainless steel bowl instead of a non-stick (potentially toxic) bowl.
Where to buy:
3- Food processor: Food processors are very handy and can save lots of time. If you choose to buy one, make sure you invest in a really good quality one as the low-cost one are very cumbersome to use and not worth the expense.
This is the one Gen has and she loves it:
Breville Sous-Chef Food Processor
4- Stick mixer
These usually come with a stick blender, an electric whisk and a small 'food chopper'. It's an excellent option which is very affordable and will allow you to blend soups and dips, make homemade mayo, whisk eggs and so much more. I use mine every day and love it!
There are so many options with various attachments, look around and see what suits your needs.
5- Souper Cube: These are really great to freeze bone broths and soups, and will save a lot of room in your freezer. We recommend the 1 cup (250ml) option for this purpose.
