Creating a Vision Board

As you continues to feel better, you'll naturally start thinking about what you really want out of life. This is a time for celebration, as you'll be able to put your renewed energy, mental clarity and strength into creating the life of your dreams.

As you move forward with your new healthy lifestyle and continue feeling great, it's important to start thinking about the life you really want to live.

As you prepare to create your vision board, start pondering the following questions:

  • What personal vision brings you happiness, contentment and pure joy!
  • What makes YOUR life worth living?
  • What do you really want out of life?
  • What changes do you need to make in order to get there?

Before we get started, let's make something clear: you don't have to believe in the law of attraction to create a vision board.

It can simply be a great way to get clear on what you want, set some goals and then take action.

Taking action is the real secret!

But in order to take action, you need to get serious about knowing what you want out of life! This is where creating a vision board can be really helpful.

*Note: If the thought of creating a vision board seems really daunting to you, don't skip it altogether. There are other ways to get clear on your goals, here are a few ideas:

  • Brainstorm on a sheet of paper about your goals, desires, emotions, etc.
  • Do some visualisation: imagine your life as it would be if your goals/desires become a reality. Imagine how this would make you feel. Really sink into these feelings.
  • Choose an image as your wallpaper/screensaver on your phone or computer that represents a goal, dream or feeling you want to achieve. I, Gen, did this last year... I put a photo of someone skiing in Japan on my screensaver... and guess where I ended up going on a ski trip? You guessed it - Japan! ;-) But it didn't just happen magically. I had to take action, which for me involved taking a big leap of faith in my business... which paid off!

HOW TO CREATE A VISION BOARD

1- CREATE A LIST OF GOALS FOR THE NEXT YEAR

Here are some questions to ask yourself:

  • What do you really want? It can even be helpful to ask yourself this question every day for a while until you start to get clear.
  • What do you need?
  • What do you value?
  • How will you feel when these things become a reality?

2- WHAT YOU NEED

  • Something to attach your images on, such as a cork board, a blank art canvas or simply a large sheet of paper.
  • Old magazines with beautiful pictures.
  • Scissors.
  • Glue.

3- SET THE MOOD

We recommend scheduling a few hours to yourself to do your vision board. Here are a few ways to improve the experience:

  • Put on some music
  • Light some candles
  • Diffuse your favourite essential oils

4-FIND IMAGES THAT REPRESENT YOUR GOALS AND INSPIRE YOU

Cut out pictures from your old magazines that represent your goals and speak to your heart in some meaningful way.

Look for pictures that immediately make you say, "Yes! That's what I want in my life!". They don't have to be physical objects or literal interpretations of what you want in your life. Instead, focus on how the images make you FEEL.

You want to select images that actually conjure the feelings that you want to experience.

You can also add motivational quotes that represents how you want to feel.

5-MAKE A COLLAGE OUT OF YOUR BEST IMAGES

Once you have collected enough images, it’s time to make your vision board! Have fun, be creative. Don't make it too busy and make sure it's pleasing to your eyes, as you will be looking at it often ;-)

Remember, your vision of your ideal life shouldn’t be focused on “stuff” but on how you want to FEEL.

CHOOSE A PLACE FOR YOUR VISION BOARD

Make sure you put your vision board somewhere you can see it at least once per day. Looking at it in the evening before bed is especially powerful.

Look at it often and connect with the feelings of what you desire.

TAKE ACTION

Ask yourself these questions:

  • What can you do to make this happen?
  • Who might be able to help me?

It can also help to tell your friends and family about your goals!

Taking action often means getting out of your comfort zone... but trust me, it will be worth it.

If you are struggling to take action, consider getting a life coach or engaging in other therapies to help you push through some of your blockages.
