Reduce EMF (Electromagnetic Field) Exposure
WHAT ARE EMFs?
Electromagnetic frequencies, known as EMF or sometimes referred to as electromagnetic radiation (EMR) or wireless radiation are emitted from all wireless technologies including WiFi routers, cell towers, smart phones, smart meters and even electrical appliances like televisions, microwaves and power lines.
So as you can see, we are exposed to a lot of EMFs in our daily life, and unfortunately, it's only going to get worse.
The good news is that you can learn ways to reduce your exposure and minimise the potential damage on your health.
IS EVERYBODY SENSITIVE TO EMFs?
It is still unclear if EMF exposure has a negative impact on everybody. However, more and more research studies are showing that they do impact health in the long term, and that some people are more sensitive than others.
People with very high sensitivity to EMF are known as electrohypersensitive (EHS) and symptoms can be very debilitating, but often difficult to diagnose.
What we and many other practitioners have observed is that many people with chronic health issues eventually become more sensitive to the effects of EMFs, noticing symptoms getting worse or new symptoms appearing when exposed to various sources of EMFs.
If you have multiple chemical sensitivities (you are very sensitive to even small amounts of chemicals; things like perfume make you feel ill), the chance that you are sensitive to EMFs is much higher.
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF EMF SENSITIVITY
As these technologies are relatively new in our environment our bodies are not experienced in responding to the frequencies they emit and therefore we respond to the incoming signal as if it were an invader, like a virus. This immune response can trigger a variety of symptoms, which can differ from person to person depending on your individual sensitivity and level of EMF exposure, but symptoms can include:
- Sleep issues
- Anxiety
- Fatigue
- Headaches
- Rashes
- Pain
- Brain fog
- Infertility — especially if keeping phone in back pocket near sex organs, or using laptop on lap
- Gut issues — possible link to leaky gut if using laptop and phone near your belly
- Many people describe a weird tingling sensation when near a source of EMF
- Some people experience heat or a burning sensation in their ears when using headphones with a device
OTHER CLUES THAT YOU MIGHT BE SENSITIVE TO EMF
Here are a few clues that you might be sensitive to EMFs:
- You feel much better when outside in nature, away from EMF exposure (including your mobile phone).
- You notice that some symptoms are much worse in specific environments or locations (at work, at home maybe when closer to Wi-Fi router, in a certain room in your house, when talking on mobile phone, etc)
HOW TO REDUCE YOUR EMF EXPOSURE
Here are a few things that everybody should aim to do to reduce exposure and become more resilient to EMFs:
1- Wire your internet access instead of using Wi-Fi. If using Wi-Fi, turn it off at night (this can greatly improve your sleep).
2- Do not use a laptop on your lap, or use EMF Shields (see products recommendations below)
3- Turn off the circuit breaker for the bedroom at night.
4- Put your mobile phone on airplane mode, especially when carrying it on your body.
5- If using headphones with any device, use Air tubes headphones (see product recommendations below). These can greatly reduce the above mentioned heat and burning sensations in people's ears.
5- Reduce or avoid the use of cordless phones.
6- Remove dimmer switches.
7- Grounding. More info here.
